| How to Repair a Crack on a Flat Roof |
 |
- First of all you need to find the location of the crack on the flat roof. You can look for cracks at the barrier between the roof and the chimney as this area is quite vulnerable to cracks.
- Once you have found the crack, you have to remove any dirt or gravel from the area. By doing this you be able to see the damage more clearly and the cement will be able to stick with the roof surface properly.
- After cleaning, use a razor knife to cut the around the crack and remove any damaged section. You should be careful not to damage the felt underneath the top layer of your flat roof. Furthermore, cut in a neat way and make a triangle or rectangle by cutting.
- Cut the replacement shingle using the cutout pattern for guidance. This will ensure that the replacement piece is of the same size and shape. If you have cut two or more layers than use enough pieces to make the surface even.
- Put a putty knife under the edges of the section you have cut out and spread a layer of cement over there as well as in the whole section.
- Press the shingle piece firmly into the hole and nail it there. You have to put cement on the bottom layer of the flat roof only as you will use nails on the other layers.
- Form a seal around the entire section by applying cement over it in such a way that even the nail heads are not visible.
