Different Styles for Fiber Cement Siding
Fiber cement siding is a recently-developed construction material. It has several different styles and eliminates many problems associated with wood siding. Furthermore, it is resistant to any sort of damage or deterioration. If you install fiber cement siding properly, you can prevent any distortion in its appearance. Moreover, fiber cement boards look like wood but are cheaper and more durable. Some of the styles for fiber cement siding are mentioned below.
Traditional Lap Siding
This is one of the fantastic styles of fiber cement siding. This sort of siding is installed in the form boards which give a neat and finished look to your home when placed on the sides. The width of the boards varies from about 5-12 inches. The base of one board converges with the top edge of the board underneath it. You have to nail the siding with the studs on the walls using corrosion-resistant nails.
Vertical Siding
You can get the look of vertical wood siding with this sort of fiber cement siding. Vertical fiber cement siding comes in panels. Wide fitting boards are put with narrow battens which cover the gaps in between.
Shingle or Shake Siding
Fiber cement siding is also available in the form of shingles or shakes. The amount of consistency in thickness and size varies between shingles and shakes. Shakes give a handcrafted appearance and have a lower consistency in thickness and size than shingles which give a uniform look after being installed.
Surface Pattern
All boards for fiber cement siding have a either a smooth finish or a grain pattern. The grain pattern gives the fiber cement siding a rough look.
Finishing
Apply a primer on all sides of the fiber cement siding to ensure that there is no water leakage through the board.  You can paint the boards or apply semi-transparent coating so that they look as if they are made from stained wood. You should apply the paint or coating on the fiber cement siding before installing it. However, painting or coating it after installation is also possible.
